Join the RacePace Tours team for the 2020 Tour de France and experience a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the race up close while enjoying the French countryside and cuisine. Each day we will ride between 50-110km (depending on the itinerary) riding the same roads as the
heroes of the tour.
We will climb the famous mountains including the Col de Madeline, Mont Ventoux and Alpe d’Huez along the way staying at 3-4-star accommodation including the Sofitel Paris le Frauburg located just 200m from the finish area on the last days of the le Tour.
You will be guided by experienced tour leaders, have access to RacePace support vans, and be transported in the comfort of a large coach when moving location.
All breakfasts and dinners are provided with light lunches included while riding the countryside. Non-riders will have the option of being a part of daily riding activities, riding ‘shotgun’ in the tour vans and cheering on the riders at various locations on the course.
A post tour video will be produced for you to show your friends at home all the special moments of the tour. You will receive 2 x Tour jerseys and a special memento from the Alpe d’Huez climb and much more.
The final pièce de résistance of the tour is on the final day when we make our way to the finish area of the Tour de France. A VIP Triomphe Package is available (at extra cost) where we witness the final stage and presentations of the tour in the VIP marquee, or we can join the thousands that line the streets cheering on our favourite riders. ARRIVAL INTO NUREMBERG (OPTION)
On Wednesday you will arrive into Nuremberg and overnight in this beautiful city. The RacePace team have been based here for 2 weeks managing Challenge Roth and will meet you on arrival.
On Thursday we will begin to make our way to Mont Ventoux where the tour will begin. We will be stopping along the way in Bern, Switzerland to loosen the legs with an easy ride. We will arrive in Val De Sault (the
base of Mont Ventoux) on Friday, where we will unpack and prepare to tackle the famous mountain tomorrow morning.
ARRIVAL INTO PARIS OPTION
Another arrival option is to fly into Paris and overnight in Paris on at the accommodation provided nearby to Paris Gare de Lyon train station. The next day, we will transfer by train to Avignon where our coach awaits. The journey time by train ranges from 2 hours 36mins – 3 hours 25 mins.
We will stay in Val De Sault (the base of Mont Ventoux) on Friday evening, where we will unpack and prepare to tackle the famous mountain tomorrow morning.
MONT VENTOUX CLIMB DAY AND DRIVE TO AIX-LES-BAIN
Today we tackle the Giant of Provence, the Mont Ventoux. Even though it doesn’t feature on this year’s TDF race route, we take the opportunity to scale this iconic mountain whilst we’re in the area. We will leave
together after breakfast riding to the base of the mountain. Here we will begin the long climb to the summit, but you will be fully supported by our vans along the way.
We will re-group and ride back to our accommodation for lunch and relax around the pool watching Le Tour. This afternoon we will drive the 4 hours to Aix-les-Bain and set-up for the next few days as we begin to watch the TDF live.
AIX-LES-BAIN TO GRAND COLOMBIER
Today we ride from Aix-Les-Bain to the finish area of Grand Colombier via the Col Du Chat. We start from our base, ride around part of the Lac du Bourget then climb past the famous monastery La Chapelle-du-Mont-du-Chat on our way to the finish.
There are some good climbs today as we go watch our first stage of Le Tour.
WHILE THE TOUR RESTS, WE RIDE!
As the TDF has their first rest day, we will sleep in a little and then head off to Bourg d’Oisans where we will get ready to ride the famous Alpe d’Huez. After lunch at the top of the climb at Smithy’s (great pub) we
continue onto the other side of the mountain and ride to Le Freney d’Oissan, before returning to Bourg d’Oisans.
After the ride we hit the Lac in Aix Les Bain followed by a BBQ and a few beers .
AIX TO SAINT-PIERREDE-CHARTREUSE
After breakfast we will ride to the point of the TDF course where they begin the largest climb of their day the Col de Pont. We will ride to Saint-Pier-de-Chartreuse via Mont Granier (a 12km climb from Chambery)
which is 60km away. Once the tour caravan passes through and we cheer on the riders we will roll back to Chambery where we will conclude the ride and catch the vans back to Aix-les-Bain.
THE 2000M CLIMB OF COL DE LA MADELEINE
The Col de la Madeline has been included in the tour 26 times and today the tour riders will tackle this Giant on their 168km ride. And we will too!
We will drive to Chambery, saddle up, and make our way to the climb. We
will ride to the top watch the riders climb the summit before we descend the other side of the mountain where will be met by the support vans to give us a lift back to Aix-Les-Bain.
WATCH THE START AT MERIBEL
Today we will drive to Moutiers and after a warm-up loop, we then ride to the start of the tour in Meribel, which sits at 1439m. Here we will meet our friends of the Bahrain-Merida team for a tour of the team bus,
check out their bikes and look through the tour expo.
After the tour begins, we will ride back to Moutiers, board the bus and return to our base Aix-les-Bain.
TRAVEL TO VESOUL
This morning, after an early breakfast we do our last ride in the beautiful Alps region.
We then pack our gear, load the bikes and start making our way to the town of Vesoul to prepare for the final few days of the tour.
TIME TRIAL AND THEN LET’S GO TO PARIS!
Today we will ride from our base in Vesoul to the top of the climb where we will watch the final stages of the time trial. We will then ride back towards Vesoul meet our bus and then we will make our way to Paris.
Once we arrive in Paris, we will transfer to our beautiful hotel which is located just 200m from the Champs Elysees TDF finish.
OUR FINAL DAY!
The riding is done for our crew as we prepare to welcome home the riders of Le Tour to the Champs Elysees.
A team lunch is organised, then we make our way to the finish area and watch the completion of the Tour de France. After the tour it is time to celebrate in one of the many French restaurants and bars.

TRANSFERS TO AIRPORT
After a huge two weeks it is time to say good bye as we arrange private transfers back to the airport for your return journey home.
